Songs for Young Musicians

On this page you’ll find a number of pieces I’ve written with the goal of capturing the spirit and imaginations of young artists. I believe that music should be fun and expressive, and that it should be taught from an explorative point of view.

Faster!

Music Should be Fun

I started learning piano in middle school along with twenty other kids my age. As we learned, we would always see who could play the new songs the fastest. My goal with the piece on the right, “Faster!”, was to create something that would play on that childish sense of competition. I wanted it to be simple enough to play after just a couple minutes and interesting enough to keep a kid entertained.

Lost in the Woods

The Above Piece, “Lost in the Woods”, is inspired by the one of the most common themes found in children’s stories: kids wondering off into the forest. I tried to capture the feeling of wonder, fear, and excitement I’ve always associated with those stories.
